THE TRADE WAR.

ECONOMIC CONFERENCE. DELEGATES’ VIEWS. SOME IMPORTANT DECISIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received Juno 18, 5.5 p.m.) PARIS, Juno 17. The “ Petit Journal ” interviewed M. Pokowski, tlie Russian delegate to tho Economic Conference, who stated that tho conference arrived at, a most satisfactory and complete unanimity on all questions. Sir George Foster, tho Canadian Minister of Trade, said that when the results arc known it will be seen that the Allies have displayed a spirit of loyalty and confidence, and laboured zealously to achieve a. common aim to make impossible economic, conquest oi commercial activity bv tlio Central Powers, either in Europe or in the world. The result will greatly and favourably influence the conduct of the war on land and sea, and provide a guarantee against any surprise or defeat in tho economic or commercial domain, which would otherwise, seem to threaten the Allies. Tho “Petit Pn vision ” says:—The Allies’ common policy and aims are threefold:—First, to render absolute tho policy, already formulated, of the total prohibition of trade between subjects of the Allies and of the enemy;

secondly, to provide the industrial restoration of the regions which have suffered by tho war; thirdly, to transform radically the system of commercial treaties ‘existing before tbo war. Tho conference adopted measures to avert possible dangers in the _ period between the cessation of hostilities and the signing of peace. It is intended to preserve tho Allies’ markets < from the invasion of merchandise which is lying in enormous quantities in the warehouses of the Central Empires.
