MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

(HR ISTCHPRCH. Mr 11. W. Bishop, S.M., presided at the Magistrate’s Court on Haturdpv. On a charge of drunkenness/Peter Sinclair, a statutory third offender, was threatened with Roto Ron, and fined 20s, in default a week’s imprisonment. Michael Hughes, a statutory second offender, was lined 10s, in default fortyeight hours’ imprisonment- on a charge of drunkenness. William .Johnson, charged with drunkenness and procuring liquor wliilo prohibited, was lined 10s, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment on each dm rgc. Alexander Crail, charged with being an habitual inebriate and with failing to provide for the maintenance of his wife and six children, was ordered to contribute to their maintenance at the rate of 30s per week. A separation order and a prohibition order were also issued against him. Christina Lawson, whose apprehension on a charge of drunkenness caused her to be brought up for sentence on a previous charge of vagrancy, pleaded guilty to tlio charge of drunkenness. The Magistrate said that accused had 185 previous convictions, and sentenced her t-o twelve mouths’ imprisonment with hard labour. Georgo Birtwhistle, was charged with being found by night without lawful ex cm so on private premises at Hals-w-cll, on Wednesday last. The Magistrate convicted and discharged accused, and issued a proluhition order si gate st him.
