AMUSEMENTS.

“SWEET NELL OF OLD DRURY.” There was a large attendance at the Tlie at re Rovnl last evening, when “Dorothy o’ the Hall” was repeated for the last timo before an enthusiastic audience. This evening “ Sweet Nell of Old Drury ” will be staged, aud Jliss Stewart will appear in one of her most popular roles, the leading figure of this 11 favourite play. According to the “ Sydney Morning Herald,” during the recent revival of the play in that city, “ Miss Stewart looked the character to perfection, and invested it with all the lovableness of old. _ Nell’s olevor mimicry of Judge Jeffries was highly appreciated, and the audience followed once moro with deep interest the development of NeLl GWynne’s counter-stroke which exposed the vindictive perfidy of the ‘ hanging Judge ’ and caused his downfall.” OPERA HOUSE. All the artists were well received at the 'Fuller-Brennan vaudeville performance at the Opera House last evening. The programme will be repeated tonight. HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. Good houses attend the screening of the present programme at His Jlajesty’a Theatre, 'the star picture is an adaptation of the romantic novel, “The Colonel of the Red Hussars.” A special war topical depicts “ Russia's Great Haul” of prisoners. The Christchurch carnival procession and crowning ceremony will be screened to-night, and for the remainder of the week. Other films of merit include the earthquake in Italy. “ Snowstorm in Denmark,” and comedy items. This series will be screened again to-night. GRAND THEATRE. Thoro will be a change of programme at.the Grand Thoatro to-day, when the principal picture to bo shown will be a Selig drama, called “The Dream Girl,” featuring Miss Bessie Eyton and Tom Santschi, the two well-known Selig artists. Other pictures will be:— “ Fate’s Finger ” (Eclair drama), “ The Two Thieves” (Nestor drama), “The Groom’s' Doom ” (comic), “ The Bear Escape ” (Ford sterling comic) and the “ Eclair Journal,” with latest happenings in Europe Next week the principal attraction at this theatre will be tho Gelio drama, “ \yoman,” which is stated to bo an exoollent production in three parts'. QUEEN’S THEATRE. A complete chango •of programme w advertised for to-day at the Queen’s Continuous Picture Theatre. The principal feature is a two-reel Thnnhouser drama called “ The Barrier of Flames. This is supported by a Keystone comedy, “Wild West Lore,” in whioh “ Fatty Arbuoklo is the leading character. Other films are: —“ Tho Terror of the Night,” another of “ Dolly of the Dailies” series; a cartoon called i “ John Bull on Top ” ; and tho latest “Paths Gazette.” Photos of the Harvest Festival at the Show Grounds and the crowning ceremony at Lancaster Park will be shown to-day. EVERYBODY’S THEATRE. “Hushing the Scandal,’; a comedy film, provoked much merriment at all sessions at Everybody’s Theatre yesterday. Tho same item and the films supporting it will be shown to-day. GLOBE THEATRE. The new programme which will be presented to-day ■at the Globe Theatre is headed by a drama entitled ' lh o Wire Chief’s Reward.” The other pictures comprise:—“The Bull bight, i (comedy), “ Gaumont Graphic (topical) and tho “ War Budget ” which depicts the latest events in the great war. SYDENHAM THEATRE. Tho principal item in the new senes of pictures to be shown this evening at the Sydenham Theatre will be a. comedy entitled “Hushing the Scandal,” featuring Syd Chaplin, a brother to tho well-known Charles Ghji'PjmOther films on the programme will bo: —•“ The Five Bob Rebellion > “ Latest War Gaeette ” (topical), the Baby’s Ride” (comedy-drama), _Cascades of Devon ” (scenic), “ Out of the Deputy’s Hands” (drama), the Double Elopement ” (comedy) and “ FSne Feathers” (drama). OLYMPIA RINK. The weather yesterday was well suited to skating and last evening the floor of the Olympia Rink was fairly well crowded. The usual sessions wii be observed, to-day.
