"WOMEN, PLAY THE GAME."
.-.,' •TO THE ; KDITOE. .' Sir,—To-day the citizens of Christchurch vote ' for ' Mayor, council, Harbour Board, Hospital and Charitable Aid 'Board. For the last of these women candidates are standing. Now if behoves the city to keep up its record in this matter, and follow up tho quiet, solid, progressive work women hayo_already performed on these two boards. Most particularly does it devolve upon women elector* ,to bestir themselves to get to the poll and put in their, proper representatives, to-look after the.needy., and the sick. Were their" own parents in need of a" dole, or their own'children in need of nursing, would they be satisfied to "leave these very feminine issues of food, care and furnishing to men only? And why. then should they be satisfied so to leave the parents and the children, of those less happily placed? In opening tho door of civic opportunity, the men of New Zealand pay c compliment to their women and their dignity, which is not enhanced by-poking single-handed into the civic cupboards 'of/domestic economy. Let the women of Canterbury show that they know how to take a compliment and a responsibility, by turning out to elect Hospitel and Charitable Aid Boards with a full complement of women members. Women, play the gam©!—I a.m, FEMTNA.
