CnRISTCHURCH HOMING SOCIETY. The Christehurch Homing Pigeon Socie'y flew oil a, rn-ce from Napier ou December 5, forty-seven birds being cent, representing fifteen owners competing. The birds wero liberated at 5 a.m. in fin© weather with a light westerly wind, which turned to a surong north-west wind as the birds reached Cook Strait, causing them to get split up. Tho winning bird was B, Rowe's Star 11., which traversed tho distance of S6O miles 1203yds air-lino in 9hr 22mn 66e0. Tho Society desires to thank Mr P. Oemcke for attending to the birds and liberating tihenj. The following w© the results:—E. Rowc'j Star 11., 1129yds per minuto; F. Smith's Tartan, 1050yds; A. Farrell's Miss Surprise, 1043yds; A. Finlayson's Waraiab, Oalyds; .F. Kingsford's Capitaine, 950yds; W. *Dohcrty's Gold Crown, 949yds; A. Hancock's Huxlev, 82Svds; A. Johnson's Courtney, 910 yds; E. Fuche's S.P.G., 831yds; S. Pounsford'a True Blue, 517yds: J. Inksoa's Gerald, 500yds. The Society also flew off a race from Cnlrercien on December 12, seventy-One birds being sent, divided amongst nineteen ownere. The birds were liberated by the station master at 1.10 p.m. in fine weather with a strong' easterly wind. The winner was F. Smith's Miss Throstle, which flew' the distance of 55 miles 1340yds air-line in lhr 19min 2Ssee. The following aro the. results:—F. Smith's Mis-s Throstle, 1236?dp per minute: M. Woodsford's First Glance, 1205yds; A. Kilday's Huxley, 1193 yds; E. Fuels's Pendle, 1178yds; R. Poun3ford's Crescent, 1175yds; A. Farrell's PonEonby, 1173yds; J. Flewellen'a Northern Queen, 1160yds; R. Draper's No. 113, 1158 yds; E. Miles'a St Albans, 1061yds; A. Johnson's Scotland, 1031yds; J. TurnbuTs Belle. 1030yds. The proceeds of this race will be handed to trn Guards' and Porters' Railway Pic mo Committee to provide special prizes.
