“ Anonymous ” haß donated ono blanket to tho Blanket Fund.

The first instalment of blankets—those purchased with the £SOO raised by the Violet Day Committee and the £SOO added by the General Committee—has been sent to England on troopship No. 11. The Women's Committee wishes to thank all those who have contributed to this result, especially tho Violet Day Committeo, the donors of flowers, and those who so freely and generously purchased tho flowers on Violet Day. The committee wishes also to thank tho following firms, through whom tho blankets were purchased at cost price:—Messrs A. J. White, Strange and Co., the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Ross and Glendining (through Messrs Ballantyno and Co.), Bentn and Co. and Butierworth Bros. The committee’s thanks aro also due to the Government for permitting the blankets to bo carried on the troopships free of cost, and to the National Mortgage and Agency Company for shipping them.

SUGGESTED LEVY BY TARANAKI FORESTERS’ LODGE. [Per Press Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, September 23, At a meeting of tho Court Taranaki A.O.F. to-night it was unanimously decided to recommend tho district court to make a levy of ono shilling a member a quarter for a year, the total proceeds to be handed to the Poor in Britain Fund. As there are fifteen hundred members in Taranaki, the clonajdau ehouid bo a substantial one.
