ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
DROWNING IN WHANGAREI HA^BOCR. [Per Press Association.] WHANGAREI, September 23. Joseph Keyte, a single man, aged twenty, was drowned in the harbour near Onorahi yesterday, through the swamping of his dinghy while he was engaged in fishing. The body has not yet been recovered.
A FATAL FALL. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 23. A lad named Evelyn Johnson, a student at a private college in the Ferry Buildings, stepped out of the window on to a glass verandah, and fell through to the pavement, 25 feet. He died instantly, liis neck being broken.
DEATH FROM PTOMAINE POISONING. [Per Press Association.] HAWERA, September 23. A Native named Kau-a-te-Rangi died near Normandy from ptomaine poisoning. . , , At the inquest, Dr M’Diarmid stated that the germs developed very quickly in hot weather, and warned the Natives to be very careful. Deceased had oaten crayfish, which with mussels, was particularly Jiable to be affected.
FALL FROM A TRAMCAR. Mrs Mary Anna Samuels, sixty years pf age, and residing at 511, Worcester Street, Linwood, was admitted to the Hospital at a late hour last night suffering from injuries received through a fall from a tramcar at the corner of Tancred and Worcester Streets. At an early hour this morning she was ptill unconscious.
