AUCKLAND" CRIMINAL SESSIONS. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, February 18. Georgo Harris, a young man who was yesterday convicted of an attempt to steal a pocket-book from Joseph Chadwick on the Whangarei racecourse, was further charged with tho theft of a purse containing £lB from William Blake Bowen at tho Whangarei. races. The jury found him not guilty. He will bo sentenced on the first charge next week.
Albert William Stanley, who pleaded guilty in the lower Court to a charge of forgery, was brought up for sentence. He incurred a debt of £9 for board, and in going away gave as security a forged document purporting to represent shares in a local enterprise. Prisoner was admitted to probation for a period of two years and ordered to pay his debt of £9 as well as costs of the prosecution. A labouring man named Michael Delaney, nearing middle age, pleaded not guilty to a charge of theft from the person at Auckland on November 1. Prisoner suggested that he ■ had been mistaken for someone else. The jury disagreed and a new trial was. ordered. Two prisoners undergoing sentence in Mount Eden Gaol, Albert Edward M'Queen and Harry Wilson, appeared to answer charges of . attempting to render a warder and a prisoner incapable of resistance, of doing them actual bodily harm, and of attempting to escape. Both pleaded not guilty. A considerable amount of evidence was given by warders and prisoners as to the alleged assault. The Court adjourned till to-morrow.

In the Supreme Court a young married man named Sydney Hall, a waiter on the railway car. was found euilty of indecent assault at Oha-kune. The jury added a recommendation that accommodation should be provided for railway cadets at stopover stations, so that each might have a senarate bedroom.
David Menzies. alias Breen, aged thirty, was found guilty of an attempted 'crjminal offence on a girl under twelve. A similar charge was preferred against William Birch, a married man, and a verdict of guilty was returned. All the accused were remanded till to-morrow for sentence.
