NEWSPAPER PROPRIETORS' ASSOCIATION.
[Per Press Association.! NEW PLYMOUTH, February 18,
Tho annual meeting of the Newspaper Proprietors' Association was resumed this morning and concluded at 11 p.m. The conference is considered to be one of the most important that yet has been held. Among the different subjects brought forward by the president, Mr P. Selig, was the World's Press Parliament, which is proposed to be held in connection with the Panama Pacific International Exposition at San Francisco in 1915. Reference also was made to the approaching jubilee of Mr Mark Cohen, editor of the Dunedin "Star," and the president's recent severe illness.
Mr Selig was unanimously re-elected president for the ensuing year. Highly laudatory remarks were made regarding his valuable service in newspaper rVles. Reference also was made to the valuable services-to the Association of Mr A. Blauton, who shortly will leave the dominion for Australia. Additional officers elected are as follows :—Vice-president, ! Mr F. E. H}'man, " Lyttelton Times''; committee, Messrs George Fenwick, F. Pirani.N. M'Robie, L. Bl'undell and H. H. Horton; secretary and' treasurer, Mr B. Keys; honorary auditor, Mr E. R. ; Kerr.
This afternoon the visitors were guests of the Tourist and Expansion League, and were shown over the Motnroa oilfields. To-morrow afternoon they will be entertained by the, local newspaper proprietors The annual meeting of the Press Association will be held to-morrow, and that.of the Master Printers' Association next Friday.
