ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
SERIOUSLY CRUSHED. [Per Press Association.] WANGANUI, February 18. A married man,, named Claude Woodcock, of Mosstown, ■ had his chest seriously crushed while working in a freezing chamber at Castlecliff to-day. He was removed to the hospital.
THE FATAL TRAMCAR. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February' 18. , Frank H. Christie, aged seventy, a :farmer jfrom Wanganui, who was knocked down by a tram-car in Cuba Street last night, and was removed to the hospital, suffering from serious injuries to his head, died this evening.
A FARMER'S SUICIDE. |"Per p RE ss Association.! BLENHEIM, February 18. Charles Turner, farmer, aged' fortyfivo to fifty, committed suicide by hanging this" morning, at Canvastown. He had just taken over a farm at the Sounds.
A MAORI'S SUICIDE. [Per Press Association.!
AUCKLAND, February 18. A middle-aged Maori named Toko Wirihana, whose wife was away from home, was found dead in his bed in Cross Street by a labourer, named John Perry, at 7.15 a.m. to-day. Toko was lying in bed with the blankets soaked in blood, while a blood-stained razor was found near the body. The jugular vein had been severed, and there were two short ,deep wounds in the neck. Last night Toko seemed calm and collected, and gave no indication that he contemplated taking his life.
