men are employed. To-day two steamers are due with coal, and on Saturday two London liners will arrive to ship large quantities of cargo. Last evening the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's steamer lonic left Lyttelton for Wellington to complete loading and coaling for London. During her stay at this port the liner loaded large quantities of frozen meat, wool and dairy produce. The lonic is due to sail for London on Thursday next. A cable message from London states that the liner Star of England has been launched at Belfast. ..,-«,. i_ Mr C. Granquist, mate of the Ngahere, has signed off the vessel's articles, and bis place has been taken by Mr H. Olsen, late of the Ngatoro. Mr W. A. Beswick is to join tho Kurow as chief officer, relieving Mr Dnnkwater, who will join the Kaitiina. Mr Webb will proceed to Wellington for orders. The schooner Mayflower, of 124 tons, built in New South Wales twenty-nine years ago, completed her final voyage on Saturday, when she arrived in Wellington from Maryborough, Queensland. She will be dismantled, and will be used as a hulk for the Blackball Coal Company. Captain Tait late of the Union Company, brought the vessel across tho Tasman Sea. . iSomo time this week the Union Company s steamer Kaiapoi is due to sail from Edithburg with a cargo of salt for tho four principal ports of New Zealand. Zealand Shipping Company s liner Tokomaru has been fixed to sail from St John on March 20 for Australian and New Zealand ports. Tho vessel is due at Wellington on June 7. , The New Zealand Shipping Company s liner Turakina, which left Wellington for London, on January 25 arrived at Monte Video on Friday last, and sailed later on her Homeward voyage. The Turakina let Weilineton in company with the Tainm, and, aaMces state that the two liners are keeping Southport which was due to sail from Now York on February 9 for AUSj tralian and New Zealand ports, is to have been fixed for the business at a lump Otaki left port on Tuesday night for Wellington, where she will complete coaling and fading for London.
