By the expenditure of £15,000 New Zealand ought to, be able to make a very fair display, which should be a really' good advertisement for our products and may be the means of opening up new avenues of trade. The Panama Canal will cause great changes in the maritime routes of the world, and may result in a considerable alteration in the commercial relations between various countries. New Zealand should, therefore, make use of every opportunity .at the present juncture of profiting by the new era which the opening of the Canal is expected to introduce—Wellington "Dominion." MR W. A. HOLM AN. Nobody who heard the fine speeches delivered by Mr Holman, Premier of New South Wales, in Wellington yesterday can entertain any surprise that his party scored a handsome victory over* that led by Mr Wads in the recent general election across the water. Mr Holmap leads the Labour Party, but his outlook upon life and politics is a" national one. Indeed, as we have said before, the absorption by what was and is still so called; though improperly, the Liberal Party in Australia of all the reactionary elements in public life has driven the democratic forces to unite in supporting what is known as the Labour Party.—" New Zealand Times."
