It has been decided to hold * Canterbury Miniature Rifle Shooting Championship meeting in Ashburton on Thursday, September 18. Already twenty olubs havo etated their intention of competing, and as tho entries do not close until September 4 it appears certain that there will be ■» large entry. Tho matter of arranging a suitable programme is in tho handa of tho- Ashburton Miniature Rifle- Shooting Association. Tho range at Ashburton is slated to be the most up-to-date in tho dominion, and consists of eight targets, tho markers being concealed tn pit in front. On tho side of each target is a clock to show tho position of the shot, while , tho number registered is denoted by a figure : printed on a card. The final round of the clubs’ championship of the North Canterbury Miniature Riflo Association was fired *t AmbcTley on Thursday evening, when Amberley A and B teams were successful in gaining both ohampion cups for tho year. Captain Dron, of tho Waikari team, last year’s winners, in presenting the cups referred to tho splendid shooting of tho Amberloy teams, averaging 09.4 for tho A team taken over the three competitions.
