Wanganui to-day failed to withstand the first challenge for the Nordon Cup, which it recently acquired by defeating Wairarapa. ■ The successful chal lengers were the Waikato _ representatives, whose forward division particularly was too good for the local team;v Waikato won by four goals to two; ■ after tho score at half-time had been' four to one in their favour. ■ Waiiganui acquired a little combination in the second spell, which was of a more even nature. The conditions under which the match was played were ideal. At Rangiora yesterday afternoon tho West Coast touring team' played the Rangiora Club and after a fairlj fast game the home team won by foui goals to nil, W. Keir (3) and E.
