LONDON’S DEATH-RATE.

The death-rate in London last week was 537 above the average, and 629 infants under two years of age succumbed. Tho weekly average of infantile mortality prior to the heat wave was 18, and the general death-rate was 7.7 in tho great towns, equivalent to an annual rate of 20.9 per 1000, compared with 13.6 three weeks previously. The Australian High Commissioner’s Department has been closed owing to the hot weather.
