MEN’S COMPETITION. The eighth round of the Men’s Junior In-tei-club Competition, conducted by the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association, was played on’ Saturday afternoon, in ideal tennis weatheb. OPAWA A t. ST MARY'S. Playing on the Cranmer courts, the Opawa A team secured an easy victory over the St Mary’s (Addington) tenm, winning every match. Singles—Oxford (O.) beat Wood (St AI.), 9-3: Garland (O.) beat Shaw (St M.), 9-1; Harman (O.) heat Aspell (St. M.), 9-2; M’Keilar (O.) beat Goggin (St M.). 9-1. Doubles —Oxford and Garland (O.) -beat Wood and Shaw (St M.), 9-5; Harman and M’lCe'.lar (O.) beat Abdoll and Goggin (St M.), 9-0. Totals: —Opawa A 51 games, St Mary’s 12. ST ALBANS A v. OPAWA B. The match between St Albans A and Ottawa B, played on the St Albans courts, resulted in favour of the homo team by 18 games. _ Singles—Bain (A.) beat Willis (O.), 9-1; Parsonson (A.) beat Williams (O.), 9-1; Willis (O.) beat Thomson (A.), 9-7; O’Connell (O.) beat Kirk (A.), 9-7. Doubles—Bain and Parsonson (A.) beat Wills and Williams (O.). 9-6; Thomson and Kirk (A.) beat Willi* and O’Connell (O.), 0-6. Totals —St Albans A 60 games, Opawa B 32. AVONSIDE B v. ST ALBANS B. The B teams of the Avonside and St Albans Clubs met on the former’s courts, and tho home team won by nine games. Singles—Pritchard (St A.) beat Thomson (A.), 9-3; Lee (A.) beat Hopkins (St A.), 9-6; Hay (A.) boat Brown (St A.), 9-4; O’Connell (A.) beat Cooke (St A.), 9-2. Doubles—Hay and O’Connell (A.) beat Brown and Cooke (St A.), 9-8; Hopkins and Prichard (St A.) beat Thomson and Leo (A.), 9-3. . Totals—Avonside B 47 games, St Albans B 38. LINWOOD A. v. LINWOOD B. Tho A and B teams of the Linwood Club met on the home courts in a match that' was wholly in favour of the senior combination. Singles—Webb (A) beat Smith (B), 9.2; Godfrey (A) beat Somerville (B), 9-6; Stycho (A) beat Hardey (B), 9-5; Wreathall ;A) beat Harrison (B). 9-0. Doubles—Webb and Godfrey (A) beat Smith and Somerville (B). 9-5; Stycho and Wreathall (A.) beat Hardey and Harrison (B.), 9-5. Totals—Linwood A 54' games, Linwood B 29. LINWOOD C v. STAR. Star (Little River) did not make the journey to Christchurch, and the Linwood C team won by default. SOUTH CHRISTCHURCH B v. ADDINGTON. LYTTELTON. Playing at Lyiteltcn, the A team of the Avonside Club beat Lyttelton by eight games.
