At the inquest on Alexander Brown, his stepdaughter gave evidence that five weeks before his death Brown visited her and said that ho was suffering from influenza and was going to stay with tho Baikics. friends whom he had been in the habit of visiting for a long time. She next saw Brown in tlio hospital tlio day before his (loath. His limbs appeared paralysed. He told witness that his jewellery was safe with the Baikics, where witness afterwards saw broken bonds and other property. (Received May 26, 12.30 a.m.)
A nurse at tho hospital stated that Mrs Baikic asked Brown if anything happened would ho give, her his belongings. Brown answered “ Yes.” Mrs Baikic brought deceased cake and fruit. The detective, who arrested tho woman said that Mrs Baikic made a. statement lo him. She .alleged that Brown had made a will leaving her everything, Mrs Baikic told him that she. lmd bought strychnino to poison cats but Brown told her that It was dangerous to hare, about tlio houso and lie threw it into the fire. She admitted pawning Brown’s rings after bis death.
