BLUEJUMPERS' ASSOCIATION

ANNU AL GATHERING. The remnant of the old Canterbury Volunteers made a bravo array last evening at tho Caledonian Society s rooms, where about seventy grey-haired veterans assembled to celebrate Empire Day at a smoke concert. Sir _ AA T . J. Steward, M.P., was in the chair, and he was supported by LieutenantColonels Hawkins,) Slater and Snow. A number of toasts were honoured and several excellent speeches were made. The Bluejumpers revived memories of the days of long ago in their speeches, and many interesting references were made to tlio joys and trials of in tho sixties. The members were allowed five minutes each in which to give their reminiscences, and between the stories musical items were given by Messrs E. Hollow, AV. Soper, j. Rowley, A. Millar, R. Vincent, AV Cookson and G. March. The gathering broke up at a Into hour with the singing of “ Auld Lang Syne.”
