MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.

A meeting of the Woodend Memorial Juvenile Temple of Good Templars waa held on February 7. There was a larg« attendance of members. Brother R. Hoppy, S.G.W., installed the officeri as follows:—C.T., Sister Lydia Green J V.T., Brother R. Cummins; secretary. Brother R. Corkin; F.S., Brother A. Griffiths; treasurer, Brother W. Green | M., Brother A. Green; Sent.,BrothaP F. Cumminsj C, Sister F. Morse; G., Brother C. Griffiths; D.M., Sister R Hancock; A.S., Sister E. Clements. On Sunday afternoon, at the Durham Street Methodist Young jpMen's Clasa, Mr J. H, Wilson, M.A.f read an interesting paper, "Genesis and Cre*« tion," and keen criticism followed. The Reviving Stream Lodge, No. 75, of Good Templars, met on Friday, February 7. There was a large attendance. The following officers were elected:—> Lodge Deputy, Sister Cumming; electoral deputy, Brother L. Brightlingj registrar, Sister Bucket, correspondent and marshal. Brother Harvey. Th« officers were installed by Sister Cumming, and delegates to the Districti Lodge were elected. The Loyal Orange Lodge, No. 24, held its monthly meeting at Hornby. Brother T. Wilson, W.M., assisted by Brother J. E. Rowntree, D.M., pro. sided over a large attendance. Brothe* Cooke, D.M., of Lodge No. 14, waa present. The secretary stated thafc the Lodge's new hall would be publicly opened on February 19, and an A.P. meeting would bo held on Monday, February 24. One candidate was initiated into the Order, and six applications for admission were received. The fortnightly meeting of the Old! Oak Lodge, No. 16, of Druids, was held: in the Orange Hall, Southbridge, on Wednesday evening, A.D. Brother J, Bennett presiding over a good attendance of members. Sick pay was granted to two brethren. The P.D.P. installed Brother J. Hunter into the offio* of P.D. for No. 6 district for the ensuing term. The officers and members of the Hopa of Christchurch Lodge, No. 8, of Good Templars, held their weekly session on Tuesday. One member was re-ad-mitted on clearance card. At the conclusion of the ordinary business Brother Dr Russell gave a short addresa on the question of single desks iru public schools. A motion to be forwarded to the School Committees' Association was carried, expressing approval of tho single desk system. Song* were given by some of the members.
