THE SHERMAN ANTI-TRUST LAW. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK, February 16. The Grand Jury indicted the representatives of every labour union in New Orleans for violation of the Sherman Anti-trust Law.

THE SYDNEY TIMBER-YARD WORKERS. (Received February 17, 11.53 p.m.) SYDNEY, February 17. A mass meeting of timber strikers resolved to ask tho Premier to call Parliament together to amend the Arbitration Act. After a conference between the Timber Merchants' Association and • a deputation of the strikers and representatives of other unions interested, an announcement was officially made that there were good prospects of an immediate settlement of the trouble. A further conference will be held tomorrow. It is understood that tho proposal is to submit the trouble to arbitration, each side appointing a representative, with an umpire.

THE NEWCASTLE COLLIERIES. SYDNEY, February 17., All the Newcastle collieries are working to-day, consequently the Special Court resumed its sittings. CONCILIATION BOARD ELECTION. At a meeting of the Slaughtermen's Assistants' Union, held on Saturday evojiing, correspondence was received from Messrs H. R. Rusbridge and G. R. Whiting, soliciting the Union's support for their candidature as workers' representatives on the Conciliation Board. A letter was also received from the Curriers' Union, urging the Union to support Mr J. Fisher. It was unanimously decided to support Messrs Whiting and Rusbridgo. At.a (meeting of the Aerated Water Workers' Union last evening it was unanimously decided to support Mr R. T. Bailey's candidature for the Conciliation Board, and the executive officers were instructed to ask all unions to support Mr Bailey.

[Pun Pkess Association.] PAHIATUA, February 17. A meeting of the executive of tho Pahiatua central branch of the Farmers' Union resolved to urge the provincial executive to do its utmost to secure an amendment of any. new Labour Bill to the effect that a reasonable percentage of employees must be members of a union before the union has power to cite employers to appear before the industrial Court.
