Breach of Prohibition Cedes. — Thomas Richard Savage and William Murphy were each fined 40s and costs for having entered licensed premises during the currency of prohibition orders. The latter was also convicted and discharged for having procured liquor. - Shops and Offices Act.—James G. Plantiffe case was that ho painted and otherwise renovated premises he let to defendant on a weeklv tenancy, and at his request did lettering referring to Ins business on the shop front and windows. It was understood that defendant was to pay for the lettering. The calcomine was purchased from plaintiff’s wife. Defendant stated that the oalcomine was given to him by pi intiff to use on the premises, and that the sign-writing was not don© at his request, but was part of the renovation of the shop-front, on which there ■was some lettering before it was repainted. Judgment was for the defendant, with casts £1 Is. Judgment by default was given in the following cases:—-George Thompson’s estate (Mr Van Asch) v. F. H. Whiteman, claim £3 14s, costs 225; M. Waterston (Mr Van Aeoh) v. W. Swords, rent £9 ss. costs £1 6s; and F. G. Scancs (Mr Johnston) v. S. M’MLllan, claim £1 15s, costs 11s.
