MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES
A meeting of the Naomi Rebokah Lodge of Oddfellows was held in the Druids’ Hall on February 20 last. Sister Scarff presiding. The following officers wore duly installed for the ensuing term N.G., Sister Scarff ; V.G., Sister Forrester; P.G., Sister Gibson; secretary. Sister Simmons; treasurer. Sister Townsend ; chaplain, Sister Marshall. Sister Sterling, Bros O’Callaghan and Townsend were appointed honorary auditors, and Sister Sterling newspaper correspondent. The usual business of the Lodge was transacted} one member being reported for sick benefit. It was resolved to invite the members of Te Tawera Juvenile Lodge to a fruit supper on March 6, and a special committee was termed to arrange for their entertainment. Two new members were initiated, and the meeting then closed. An impromptu dance was greatly enjoyed by the members. Sisters Smith and Golding providing music. The quarterly summoned meeting of the Old Oak Lodge, No. 16, U.AiO.D., was held in the Orange Hall, Southbridge, on Wednesday evening, Bro J. Hunrer, A.D., in the chair. The usual quarterly accounts were passed for payment. An appeal list was ordered to lie on the table till next Lodge night. The proposed amendments to rules, and motions to be dealt with at the Grand Lodge session to be held at Sydenham on March 7, were discussed, and the delegate was instructed to support several of the amendments.
