Bell (Blenheim) and B. Myers (Auckland), and Mr and Mrs A. Sutherland (Palmerston North).. . A_ niimber of oversea Visitors reached Dhristchurch yesterday, ‘ among them being Mr W. H. Dick (London), Mr T. Hudson (Ceylon), Mr J. Tilley and ' Miss Tilley (Queensland), Mr A. J. M’Donald (Sydney) and Mr M. W. Ratz (Melbourne). Messrs James Edgar (Dunedin), Thomas Stevenson (New South Wales), • R. A. Anderson (Invercargill) and A. W. Smith (Wellington) were passengers - by the express trams for the south yesterday. . Mr George Scott and Herr R. C. Seager, who has lonv officiated as usher at the Christchurch Supreme Court, has been appointed Ouet-dian of the legal library. At a meeting of the managers of the Temuka Tec’:meal Association, Mr D. M’Caekill, 8.A., wre appointed superintendent of the classes at a salary of £SO a year. Mr J. T. Smart, of Hyzelburn. has been appointed first assistant in the Temuka "District High School, : Mr Charles Lancaster, of Groymouth, returned to the West Coast yesterday morning. At last night’s meeting of the Industrial Association the newly-appointed president, Mr A. W. Beaven, stated that Mr J. C. Wilkin, who had been a vice-president of tho Association, and had a one good service for the Association in many different ways, was leaving Christchurch temporarily for a trip to England. Members of the Association would join with him in wishing Mr and Mrs Wilkin bon voyage. They hoped he woujd come back looking five yeans younger, with heaps of now notions that would make the “Lyttelton Times ’’-even more of a success than it had been of late years. In returning thanks Mr Wilkin said he had been a citizen for fifty-six years, and had not been to England during the whole of that time. Ho had just completed fifty . years service with the “Lyttelton Times’’ Company, and had been very cordially granted twelve months' leave, which it was his intention to spend in a pleasant ramble through the place he had come from. On his return he would be very glad to be able to again associate himself with the institution.
