PRESENTATIONS.
On Wednesday, the officers -. and engineers of the Union Steamship Company’s s.s. Rotomahana met, in the salobn of the steamer for the purpose of making a presentation, to Mr A. E. Carman, third engineer, who is about to be married; Mr Levestam, chief engineer of the Rotomahana, presided, and, on behalf of the officers and engineers,, presented Mr Carman with a handsome case of silver fruit-knives and forks. The health of the recipient and his bride was drunk with the customary honours, and several officers bore testimony to his popularity on the vessel. Mr Carman heartily thanked his shipmates for their handsome present and Iheir good wishes. Yesterday Miss Bisset, who has resigned from the teaching staff of the Rangiora Borough School, after nearly four years’ service, was presented with a silver-mounted purse by the teachers and the scholars of the upper standards.
