ST JOHN’S COLLEGE.

[F»OM OtTB COSRBSPONDEKT.I AUCKLAND, January SO. The action of the Biskra of the Anglican dioceses in nominating themselves as the Board, of Governors of St John’s College,- instead of nominating local residents as in the past, has created considerable surprise and some unfavourable comment amongst church circles here; It is felt that the Result of the changes in the system of appointment will be that the whole management of the College, which is a New Zealand and not a diocesan institution, will be vested in one member, the Bishop of Auckland, as it is not to bo expected that the other Bishops will find it convenient to do more than to attend occasional meetings, and that even when they do visit Auckland the local Bishop, w r ho is the ex-officio chairman of the Board, will still be the only member with a close, knowledge of the affairs of the College. .
