Swetteubam’s resignation has been accepted. The resignation was due to facts coming to light of which lie was not aware, and of which he ought to have been told. A Reuter’s message states that at a meeting under the auspices of the Merchants’ Exchange at Kingston, it was declared that tho Government officials were out of touch' with the community, and unable to cope with the situation.
