The “ Times ” says that Australia has given Mr Deakin a clearly expressed mandate to the Colonial Conference respecting the naval contribution being in ships not money, also with regard to the navigation policy, Imperial preference and constitutional arrangements compelling tho Colonial and Foreign Offices and other departments to keep in touch witii the Empire where common interests are concerned. The “Times” attaches importance to Mr Deakin’s personality, and believes that ho is bound to leave his hfark on the conclusions of the Conference.
