NEW SOUTH WALES AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP. United 1 Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, October 12. The amateur stroke competition in connection with the' championship meeting l was won by Lieutenant Brooke, of the warship Powerful, with a score of 75. The opening rounds of the championship will commence to-day. (Received October IS, 1.15 a.m.) There whs fine weather 'for the opening of tho golf championships, at the Rose Bay links. Two out of four rounds of the Open Championship were got'through. A feature of the play was the downfall of the Victorians, the success of the New South Wales amateurs and the lino play of the Hoods. Both proved superior to their opponents. GoMan failed to hold his own against Clarke, New South Wales.
