OBITUARY.

AIR G. COSSAR. On Saturday there passed away another of the old- pioneers,' Mr G. Cossar, of Invermay Farm, Tai Tapu. The deceased was born, at Greenknow-o Farm, Berwickshire, Scotland, and was educated at* Dunbar. For four years lie engaged in commercial pursuits, but not finding in tho Old Country sufficient scope for enterprise, in 1862 he emigrated to Queensland in the ship Flying Cloud. In. 1563 he came to New Zealand, and after working for six years with the late Air G. Holmes, of Pigeon Bay, he removed to Dnvauchelle’s, where he purchased a farm. When the land was cleared, Mr Ccesar stocked his farm with Shorthorn cattle, and was for some time engaged, in dairying. Subsequently he settled his sons" on the Duva-uchelle’s property, and bought In-verm ay Farm at Tai Tapu. In 1887 be paid a visit to the Old Country. The late Mr Cossa-r served for twenty years on. School Committees and other local, bodies, and was much respected for his - many sterling qualities and upright character. Pie leave© a widow, seven eons and four daughters. Nows has been received in- Timaru by cable, of tho death at Buenos Ayres of Mr Thomas R. Macintosh, son of the late John Macintosh, an old settler of South Canterbury. The deceased was for eomo time on the staff of the National Mortgage and Agency Company in Timaru, and left for the Argentine only a few months ago-. Mrs Adams, widow of the late Air William Adams, of Langley Dale, Alarlborough, died in Christchurch on Monday night. Aire Ad-ams, who was in her ninety-first year, cam© to the colony! in 1843. Her husband was th© first Superintendent of Marlborough, and - was a prominent figure in Alarlborough history. She leaves four sons, Messrs William Acton-Adams, Langley Adams, Percy Adams and _ William Adams (Marlborough).' The interment will take place in the family vault at Langley Dale, Alarlborough, on Satur-^ day*
