SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

The monthly meeting of the Mackenzie School Committee was held on January 2 ; present—Messrs Langerson (chairman). Deal, Rentoul, Parian© and Sustins. The inspector’s report was considered satisfactory. A letter was read from Mr Baird, tho newly-appointed master, stating that he would be ready to take up his duties when school opened on January 22. The caretaker’s resignation was accepted, and the chairman was authorised to appoint a successor. It was reported that the school picnic had been a great success. The sum of £1 Is was donated to the Cheviot Brass Band for its services at the picnic.
