PERSONAL.
Mr G. Hardy (Rakaia) and Mr L. Cordner arrived in Christchurch yesterday. - Miss Tebbs (England), Mr T. Wilkes (Dunedin), and Mr E. Clarke (Dunedin) arrived in Cnristchurch yesterday. Air R. K. Rodwell, Air Glenclining (Dunedin), Air W. D. Davis (Dunedin), and Mr and Airs C. E.' Nopenaire arrived in Christchurch on Sunday. Bishop Stuart, who has been doing missionary work in Persia for some ■years, arrived at Auckland, from Sydney yesterday. He is well-known in New Zealand, having formerly been Bishop of Waiapu, which position he resigned in 1894 to take up work in the mission field. The Rev R. T. Gardiner arrived at Auckland, from 'Sydney, yesterday. He is the bearer of a commission from the Archbishop of Canterbury to inquire into the progress of the church in distant parts of tho Empire, and generally to prepare subjects for the great conference of representatives of the whole Anglican community, to be held in England in 1908.
