Chevis came on and challenged the leaders, and for thirty or forty vMrda ran in from of W'hentley, who took charge at the back of the course. Cowan infused a little interest into tho contest by going up to the Yiciorisn, but was evidently only there on sufferance, as Wheatley drew out again going to the hospital end, and ran home a winner by upwards of twenty yards from Cowan.
