LAWN TENNIS.
The- committee of the Canterbury' Lawn Tennis Association met on Thursday evening; present—‘Messrs W. Goss (chairman), Jr. A. Laurie, H. Curtis, IS*. Lockwood, L. A. Longuet, A. Borrows and A. F. Wright (honorary The secretary reported that he had been in correspondence with the Wellington Association in reference to the proposal to play a match between it and the Canterbury Association. The Wellington Association „ proposed that the match should be made an annual one, to bo played alternately in Christchurch and Wellington. On the motion of Mr Laurie, seconded byMr Borrows, it was agreed that the matca should be made an annual fixture. The Wellington Association also proposed that the match for the present year should be held on Saturday, March 18, in ChristThe date proposed was agreed to. Messrs Goss, Borrows and Laurie were elected a committee to select players to represent Canterbury and to arrange for courts for the It was decided that: the following- players should be asked to practice for the match; Misses Xicholson, Jamieson, Harman, Van Asch, Crawford, Goodman, Berkley, Whitehouse and Miller, and Messrs' R. D. Harman, F. M. B. Fisher. P. Laurie, A. Borrows. W. H. Kiver, G. Aitken, W. Goss, E. 'J. Boss and C F. Salmond. It was decided that the players should b* asked to practice at Cranmer Square on Tuesday evenings aud Saturday afternoons, and at the Limvood Club’s courts on Thursday afternoons and evenings. The committee appointed to make arrangements for a schools’ tournament reported that the assistance of the Public Schools’ Ataletio Association had been obtained, and ifr was proposed that a tournament should be he id in April. . .
