Ivor Lawson, tho American champion cyclist and winner of the 1904 World's Professional Two-kilometre Championship, easily defeated Walter Rutt, tie German rider, in a series of teSS matches. Lawson later on broke the world's record for one mile, covering the distance- in lmin 47 4-ssec. . Keen interest is being shown < in the Tai Tapu Road Race, which takes place to-morrow. The distance is" tenmiles, and intending competitors havebeen in hard training. _ Forty-one nominations have been received. '
