In the House of Commons, Mr (Buxton moved and Mr Macnamara seconded, a motion for the rejection of the (London Education Bill, contending that the municipalisation of metropolitan education was practically impossible. Mr Balfour said that, if the leading principles of the Bill were accepted, the Government "would not object to modifications. He hinted that the County 'Council's representation on the Education be increased. The London County Council, by a large ■majority, condemned the Education Bill, and advocated the creation of a directlyelected education authority.
