EDUCATION BOARD ELECTION
In accordance'with the Education Boards Elections Act of last year, Mr H. C. Lane, Secretary to the North Canterbury Education Board, has counted the votes at the election for three members,, held on July »22. Them were nine .candidates, and the following is the result of, the poll: • 0. A.-C. Hardy :. . . 510 . J. L. Scott . . . 471 M. Dalziel, jun. . - . . 450 C. -H.A. T. Opie . 441 ' P. J. Cocks . , 205 W. Iloilitt . . . 168 , J. Anderson . . , • , 157 D. M’Nicoll , . - . . 139 F. W. Smith Ansted . . 128 ’Messrs Hardy, Scott, and Dalziel have been declared elected. They have all sat on the Board previously. ’ The voters were members of School Committees. The total number of votes recorded was 2669. Thirtyeeven, voting-papers, representing- 111 votes, 'were rejected, being informal; and twenty - sis envelopes containing voting-papers were too late for the election, not bearing the postmark, or not, being delivered as required by the statute. This is the first Education. Board election] held in Canterbury under thenew Act,
