SUMNER FIRE BRIGADE.
The annual "social" of the Sumner Fire* Brigade was held in the Town Hall on Thursday evening, a large number of people being present. 'The Mayor of Sumner (Mr W. Eollitt), in a short speech, eulogised the work done by the Brigade/ and hoped that it would be equally successful and' efficicoit. in tha future. He then .presented medals to Firemen Cuddy (seven years' sendee) and Barnford (five years' service), bars to Firemen Cosbsr (seven years' service) and Inghs (seven years' service), "a-M : a. certificate to Fireman H. Glcnnie (three years' service). After the conclusion of the formal part of the proceedings, music and dancing were kept up until a late hour.
