DUNEDIN CONCILIATION BOARD. , . [Fee Press Association.] DUNEDIN, August 2. The dispute betAvee-n the grocers’. assistants and the master grocers came before Ue Conciliation Board -to-day. Exception Avas taken by the employers represented to only a portion of the grocers in Otago being cited, and it Avas urged that every grocer from Oamam to Invercargill should be cited. The case Avas adjourned to enable the-'em-ployers to conclude the formation of a muster Grocers’ Association. At a meeting of the Conciliation Board this morning, - members took strong exception to the Premier's remarks, namely, that, he thought there AA-as'too much sitting, that they were riding the thing to death, and there ought to be more Court and less Board. Members said that the remarks . wire a positive insult to themselves,' and threatened' to resign. The matt or, hoAvever, was held ovs:r until the return of Mr Chapman,' the chairman, from Wellington. : . TIMBER YARDS AND SAWMILLS. The Canterbury Timber Yards, SaAV.mills and Coalyard Employees’ Industrial Union of Workers 'has filed a' statement of conditions of labour, Avbich Avill be brought under the Conciliation Board. Messrs Williams, Stephens and Co. and forty-four other employers, representing,till parts of Canterbury, including Timaa-u, Ashburton, Lyttelton, Kaiapoi, Eaugiora; and • other toAvns, have been cited to appear. The workers ask for forty-four hours a Aveek, 'overtime- considerations, and a minimum' Avage for. permanent hands ranging from £2 5s a AA-eek to £5, Avith £5 10s for practical or joiners’ machinists, and £4 a week for “ saAv doctors.”
