HOCKEY.

A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Canterbury Hockey Association was held on, Tuesday evening—Mr W. Johnson in the chair. Letters were read from the Ashburton and Timaru Hockey Clubs in reference to. the North v. South' Canterbury match. I» was decided that the match should be played at Timaru on August 22, 1901. . The Wellington Association Avroto regarding the representative match, and it was decided! to suggest that the matoh.should be played on August 29. It was resolved to close' the Thursday competition on August 8, audi to play the Thursday and Saturday matches on August •15. It was decided that the North Canterbury team should be composed of Thursday players only, and the Canterbury team in the match against Wellington of Saturday players only. A match between the Lyttelton and Avon Juniors was played-at Lyttelton yesterday afternoon, and resulted in the local team winning by six goals' to nil. The Avon team played three men short. Ayers (3), Gellety, Jindsay and Ross scored for Lyttelton. /Webb, Gilrnore and Schumacher played very well for the winners, as did Smith and Good for Avon. Mr Watkins was refeice. A match between the Kaiapoi and Rangior a Thursday teams was played on the ground of the ,former on Thursday afternoon, and resluted in a win for the local men by four goals to one goal. Mr Blackwell was referee.
