OBITUARY.

[Per Pkess Association.] 'NAPIER, August I. . The death is announced of Captain John Gleadow, aged seventy-five. The deceased went out to Australia about forty years ago, in charge of the ship Rosebery, and came on to New Zealand during the gold rush. On settling here he was appointed Marine Surveyor, which position he held until fourteen years ago. Captain Gleadow enjoyed the best of health until a few days before his death.
