SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
The final meeting of the Richmond School Committee was held on Wednesday! - -j evening ; present—Messrs Flesher (chair-, man), Panll, Bell, Shaw, Hughes, Bichard* ’ ' J and Clarke. -. .The quarterly elimination report was received, and considered satisfactory. Correspondence was received- from . the School Committees’ Associsjtion, enclosing. the annual reporo and balance-sheet. ■'■ The delegates present referred to the good work done by the Association during the past year. A communication from the Education Board stated that it intended advertising for a third assistant mistress. The Board also wrote regarding.tie visit of the-Buildings Committee and asking why' so few boys are appointed as pupil teachers ■ at the school, and the reasons why giris are appointed to the positions. It was resolved to reply that tie committee had'no option in the matter, as it is bound to accept the pupils recommended by.the, • - master according to tie Board’s regula- - tioens. The headmaster reported that the roll number was 698, and the average for the' four weeks £O4. * He also : stated" that the amount in aid of the piano ; fund to date was £ls 16s 3d. The report' ' for presentation, to the annual meeting of - householders, drawn up by Mr B. J. Pauli, was adapted. Hearty votes" of thanks were accorded to Mr J. A. Fksher fox acting as chairman - for the year, to Mr Panll for the energetic manner in which he had carried out the duties ol honorary secretary, and to Mr J. Clarke, the treasurer. Accounts amounting to £3 13s 3d were passed. . , The final meeting of the Tax Tapu. Schools Committee was held on Monday evening present —Messrs A. E. Lowe (chairman), S. Kingan, J. Leney, H. E; Peryman, J. Griffiths and J. F. Watson. Tfhe Chawmain presented the balance-sheet, and a , draft report to be submitted to the annual meeting of householders on Monday next.- 1 The statement of accounts showed a credit balance of £l3. The report Was approved- * - and was considered a satisfactory synopsis ( of the work done during the year., -The- ,‘ Master, on behalf of the staff, thanked the members, and the Chairman in particular, for the interest 'taken in the welfare of - - the school, and for encouragement given;-.; to the teachers. The committee expressed high appreciation of the services rendered by the Chairman, and a hearty'vote of thanks was passed and suitably acknow- /. ledged. " Preference was made to*the plea- ■ sane relations which had existed dunng the , year between committee and teachers, and a vote of thanks was unanimously passed vto the Headmaster, Mr J.
