GOLF.

The annual meeting of the Christchurch Golf Club was held on Monday evening. The captain, Mr E. Wilder, presided, and twenty-five members attended. The annual report showed that the membership had increased during the year from 41 to 108. Eighteen greens, each over an eighth of an acre in extent, had been strongly fenced at Russley, where a house with sleeping rooms had been erected. Arrangements had been made with Mr Buxton to undertake the care of the Hagley Park and the Russley links. The club had again won the annual contest with the Otago Golf Club for the Hanmer Challenge Shield. The credit balance was £8 3s 6d. The receipts had been £205 5s 9d and the expenditure £l9B 2s 4d. The assets were £137 8s 5d and the liabilities £67 Os 6d, leaving a credit balance of £7O 7s lid. The election of officers resulted as follows : —Captain, Mr E. Wilder ; honorary secretary, Dr G raham Campbell; honorary treasurer, Mr W. Harman (all reelected) ; committee, Dr Jennings, Messrs R. L. M. Kitto, R. L. Orbell, J. \V. Wood and W. H. Graham. A sub-committee was appointed to inquire into the advisability of procuring the lease, with a purchasing clause, of certain lands. It was resolved to register the club.
