WELLINGTON NEWS.

[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, March U

A sum of £13,000 has been collected or promised towards the Roman Catholic Cathedral, in Buckie Street, which is expected to cost £40,000. The building will be of brick and Oamaru stone.

The lessee of an unused portion of the Karori Cemetery was sued by the Borough Council for rates. He pleaded that he was exempt, under the Cemeteries Act, but the Stipendiary Magistrate decided that any portion of a cemetery not actually in use as a burial ground was liable for rates.
