A meeting of the ■ committee of the Progressive Liberal AssociaEfon was held on Monday evening. Correspondence was read:—From Mr R. M'Nab, MJETR., stating that he would be willing to-address the Association on the subject of the Absolute Majority Bill. From the Hon W. J. Steward, MLH.R., stating that a separate Bill would be necessary to deal with accommodation for farm labourers. It was resolved tha,t' the amendments 'inV-tho Shearers' Accommodation Bill should be forwarded to Messrs Smith, Taylor and Tanner, M.H.R.'s; that the public should be invited to hear Mr R. M*Nab*s address on the Absolute Majority Bill, and that the Oddfellows'. Hall "should be taken for .the occasion. The Bills. Committee reported that the Companies Audit Bill and the Referendum Bill had been considered. A recommendation was made that the firstnamed should be amended in r the direction of providing that yaluers under this Bill should be experts. The following resolution was carried:—" That the Progressive Liberal Association warmly, approves of the Premier's expression of opinion to the effect that Government should check monopolies, these being a danger tofhe State."
