BOROUGH COUNCILS.

SUMNER. A meeting of the Sumner Borougb'Coundl was held on Wednesday; present—Councillors Hulbert (in the chair), Hesfcetf, Hanmer, Hughes, Graham and Glennie. The Works Committee reported that the occupiers of Beach Glen had been given notice that the disposal of drainage in their district must be attended to. The committee recommended that all the creek crossings should be. attended to, and that each owner of land through which the creek ran should be requested to have it cleaned out at once; also, that the owners of properties fronting the roads should be directed to have all the trees and fences abutting on the roads trimmed., The committee had inspected and approved of the plans for the retiring rooms.. After considerable discussion the report was adopted. The Finance Committee reported that the credit on the general account was £96 3s 7cl, and the debit on the waterworks account £ll6 13s. Accounts amounting to £44 19s 9d were recommended for payment. The receipts since the previous meeting had been £lB. The report was adopted. Consideration of the estimates for the year was deferred until tbs next meeting of the Council. It was resolved that by-law 86, relating to the extraordinary water supply, should be enforced in the case of one householder. The following committees were appointed : -—Works committee, Councillors Hulbert, Graham and Heskett; finance committee, Councillors Hughes, Hammer and Glennie. 'The meeting then terminated.
