THE GOVERNOR.
HIS TOUR IN THE NORTH. [Per Press Association. 1 . ' AUCKLAND, May 11. His Excellency the Governor and party were driven to Waiorongomai, and visited the batteries and attended a banquet in the evening. Yesterday morning his Excellency the Governor was welcomed to Ohinemuri by the Chairman of the County Council, the councilors and inhabitants of Paeroa and the surrounding district. Most elaborate preparations had beeh made, flags crossing the street at numerous , points, whilst a massive and tasteful triumphal arch had been erected. The Governor was presented with an address of welcome. The Governor thanked the people for their loyal welcome, and acknowledged with satisfaction their sentiments of devotion to the Crown. It gave him great pleasure to visit this mining district and view the, development of these industries. He was greatly interested in mining. An interesting address was next delivered from the Natives of the district, and signed, on behalf of the Natives, by Haora Tareranui, Haora Tupaea and Mere Kuru. After a short sojourn his Excellency proceeded by special coach to Karangahake, where another address of welcome was presented, to which the Governor suitably replied. He visited various mines.
