There were ven- good ; entries at the , weelcly sales of sheepskins yesterday, and i most lots came forward in excellent conbdition. , There - was a good attendance of : the trade, and competition, especially for merindes, which were in short supply, was brisk, late rates being exceeded. Pat and hides-were disposed 'of at full market 'rates. 'Butchers’ skins were disposed of as follows:—Best half-breds 3s 6d to 4s sd, , medium do 2s 3d to 3s 4d, best cross-breds ■•3s-3d .to. 3s lid,- medium.do 2s 9d to 3s ’ 2d, merinoes 2s 3d bo 3s 4d. .Diy. skins were well represented, and met with a good demand, meriones selling up to sjd per ..lb, and ■ cross-breds up to 4d. HORSE SALES. At the Ashburton Horse Market yester- .■ day the demand for draught horses was . weaker than it has been lor some time, and only, good young stock maintained recent values. Best young draughts brought . from £2O up to£27 10s for geldings, while • older sorts ranged from £5 10s to £lB 10s. ■ Mares, however, were in better demand, ' and one three-year-old sold at £45. There was some inquiry for hacks and good allround horses, broken to saddle and single and double harness, brought £l7 10s. The .numbered 170, and there was a-fair ' of buyers.
