THE MISSING STEAMER.
THE SEARCH FOR'THE PERTHSHIRE. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, May 11. The Wanaka, from the Bluff, saw; no sign of the Perthshire. It is probable that a steamer-will'leave here, arid zigzag across to the Bluff in search of the Perthshire. [Pee Piuess Association.] WELLINGTON, May 11. It has been suggested that the Hmemoa, which is now on the West Coast, should be sent to search for the Perthshire, which is overdue at the Bluff. The Marine Department has not yet been approached by the agents, and it is believed that the Hine, moa is on her way to the Sounds, and, therefore, out of reach of communication. INVERCARGILL, May 11. It is suggested here that as there ate still no tidings of the Perthshire, and no instructions from the owners, advantage should 'be taken of the steamer Rimu’s visit to Preservation Inlet to-mor-row, to send her forty or fifty miles up the West Coast to ‘search fbr wreckage, and so settle the question whether the Perthshire struck on that iron-bound coast while making the land during the night.
