KAIAPOI. A special meeting of the Kaiapoi- Borough Council was held on Tuesday evening to consider a notice of motion tabled by Councillor Hayman, striking a rate of Is 3d in the £ on all ratable property in the borough; present The Mayor, and Councillors Pearce, Hopkins, Daly, Doubleday, Eagle, Knight, and Hayman. Councillor Hayman moved that a rate of Is 3d in the £ should be struck for the borough for the ensuing year, remarking that this rate was absolutely necessary.'
