WORK AND WAGES.
TRADES AND; LABOUR COUNCIL. The ordinary meeting of the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council was held in Inglis’s Buildings .on Saturday, the President, Mr C. Taylor in the chair. Delegates were present from the following Unions : Amalgamated Society of Engineers, Amalgamated Society of, -Carpenters, Engine Drivers’, Tinsmiths’, -Moulders’, Plumbers and Gaditters’, Boilermakers’, Bootmakers’, Plasterer*’, Painters’,/ Canterbury ; Carpenters’, Tailoresses’ and Pressers ? , and Furniture Trades Unions and Typographical Association. Correspondence was ' received From the ■ Auckland Trades Council, • stating thta Shop Assistants’ Union had bean formed, and requesting information, which the Secretary had supplied. Prom the Wellington Trades Council. From, the Progressive Liberal Association, with reference to the municipal roll. From the Tailoresses’ and Prefers’ Union, informing the Council that no charge would he made for the use of Inglis’s Buildings for the Conference. The Secretary was instructed to thank the Union for its generosity. The proceedings then closed.
